Formula 3 action resumes at Barcelona post-season testing

After getting laps on the board at the Circuito de Jerez last week, FIA Formula 3 heads cross-country for the second post-season test of 2023 around the familiar surroundings of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Commencing on Tuesday, the two-day event provides another valuable opportunity for drivers and teams to further their learnings and analyse ahead of the final on-track action at Imola later this month.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Running from October 10-11, the two days of testing at the 4.657km circuit will once again be split into a morning and afternoon session, totalling 12 hours of track time.

The opening morning session will commence at 09:00 local time (GMT +2) until 12:00. Testing will resume in the afternoon from 14:00 until 17:00. Wednesday morning’s three-hour session will also run from 09:00 until 12:00, but the second afternoon will commence an hour earlier 13:00 and conclude at 16:00 local time.

As used in Jerez, Pirelli’s hard compound tyre will be available throughout the test.

LAST TIME OUT

The highest-placed returning driver from the 2023 campaign, Dino Beganovic continued to show his speed behind the wheel of the PREMA Racing car. Day 2’s morning Qualifying simulation saw the Swede set a 1:29.900 to go fastest of all in Jerez.

Also testing for the Italian team, Gabriele Minì finished second overall, three thousandths off Beganovic’s effort. The Alpine Academy junior took three top two finishes, topping the first afternoon’s running.

Martinius Stenshorne led the way as the quickest rookie. Driving for Hitech Pulse-Eight, the Norwegian set a 1:30.292 on the second day to earn the sixth fastest time of the test.

Noel León kept himself busy in the #17 Van Amersfoort Racing car, completing a total of 162 laps.
