Bryan Hulbert – TULSA, Okla. (December 29, 2023) Heat Races are done, and the soup is on at the 39th annual American Waste Control Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy, and the star of the show thus far has been Super Late Model ace, Ricky Thornton, Jr.

Overcoming a rough start to his run in Hyper Racing Outlaw Non-Wing competition, Thornton is the only driver thus far to charge from the E-Feature into Sunday’s B-Features, with wins in the E and D-Features, followed by a run into the final transfer spot in the opening C-Feature.

While eyes will be fixed on Thornton to see if he can pull off the impossible, attention is also on the Flying A-Motorsports Junior Sprints.

The only division thus far with drivers locked into an A-Feature on Sunday, the driver on point for the green flag will be Broken Arrow’s J.J. Beason, whose father, Jonathan Beason, is also in competition, and picked up a Tulsa Shootout win in 2001 and 2016. Earning an 11th place seed in event passing points, Keizer Kramer is another one to watch in the Junior Sprints, as he made the cut in his first attempt.
