MULTIPLE RACE WINNER OLIVER WESTLING AND JENSEN RACE TEAM HAVE SIGHTS SET ON WINNING THE 2024 FORMULA REGIONAL AMERICAS CHAMPIONSHIP
February 28, 2024 – Oliver Westling enjoyed a successful 2023 season scoring two race wins en route to finishing 4th in the Formula Regional Americas Championship. The tall California driver will return for his third season racing with his JENSEN team, where he will pilot his familiar #1 blue Ligier F3 race car in a team-sponsored program.
Team owner and mentor Eric Jensen stated, “Oliver has been a model student of our JENSEN driver development program for the past two seasons. On track, Oliver is a gifted race car driver with an abundance of natural talent. Off track, he is an impressive and thoughtful young man who is ideal for sponsors that are interested to leverage car racing in their corporate sale and marketing initiatives. After years of hard work, we are both highly motivated to achieve our most successful season together to date.”
Formula Regional Americas is the top level American junior race series on the FIA Formula One Championship’s young driver development ladder. The 2024 championship comprises 21 races over seven event weekends at iconic American race circuits including the newly added event on the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the season finale at the Austin F1 track Circuit of The Americas. Ligier JS-F3 are the specification race cars used in the championship, powered by 303 horsepower turbo-charged Honda engines capable of top speeds nearing 160 mph.
Formula One has experienced significant growth in recent years, including the addition of the tremendously successful Miami Grand Prix and Las Vegas Grand Prix to the championship calendar. As a consequence there has been a substantial increase in racing sponsorships especially from American corporations.
