“Gonzalez leads the way in strong contingent”

April 9, 2024 – After four of a possible six podium results and two Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli event weekends, Nitro Motorsports brings the point lead and momentum to round three this weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park. Looking to extend their point lead and keep the podium streak alive, Tyler Gonzalez, Ben Maier, Rafa Matos, and Thomas Annunziata will aim high in ‘The Big Easy’.

“We are coming into the weekend with less drivers than in the first two rounds but that should only increase our focus and determination to succeed,” explained Nick Tucker. “We want to extend the point lead, continue to show our domination, and strive for our first race win of the season, despite already earning four podium finishes.”

Earning two of the four podium results is Tyler Gonzalez who enters the weekend as the overall TA2 series point leader as he looks to continue his run of consistency. Battling hard and overcoming issues at round two in Road Atlanta to stand on the podium, Gonzalez is proving that he has what it takes to make a run at the series title. Thomas Annunziata, another podium winner at the most recent round, will be hunting down Gonzalez as he has shown the speed and results to contend as well. With a podium now on his resume and momentum on his side, Annunziata could be a race winner at NOLA this coming Saturday.

Ben Maier has been a driver who has shown speed in the first two rounds, earning a top-ten finish at Sebring International Raceway but ran into trouble at Road Atlanta with a rear-end issue after running inside the top-ten. As a young driver with a level head on his shoulders, Maier has a strong future in the sport and is looking for a breakthrough weekend in New Orleans. Rafa Matos will be back flying the Nitro Motorsports flag in New Orleans as he looks to overcome some troubles at Road Atlanta. Matos, who earned a podium in Florida during the opening round, looked poised to repeat his performance in Georgia but a late race issue sent him to the pit lane for repairs taking them both out of contention.

Tucker continued, “The target is on us, but we enjoy the pressure and will continue to aid our drivers in their quest for success.”

Nitro Motorsports competitors will be back on track April 11-14 at the NOLA Motorsports Park. Stay tuned to their social media pages for news, information, photos, and results from the event weekend.
