“Dyszelski scores a podium and a top-five in Sebring”

May 7, 2024 – The Pirelli GT4 America program traveled to Florida for rounds three and four at Sebring International Raceway as Danny Dyszelski had a strong outing with RySpec Racing in his Pirelli GT4 America debut. Having competed in the open wheel of USF Pro 2000 and Radical Cup this season, Dyszelski kicked off another series of competition and did so with a podium result.

In practice one, Dyszelski and teammate Johan Schwartz were on the pace straight away, setting the seventh-quickest time of the Pro-Am class in the RySpec Racing-prepared Mercedes AMG. In practice two, the RySpec Racing duo was the ninth-fastest in class.

Dyszelski and Schwartz set a time in qualifying one that awarded them with a starting position of third in race one. In the second qualifying session, the duo piloting the #635 set the seventh-fastest time in class, meaning they would start race two from the inside of row four.

In race one, the RySpec Racing teammates led in class for most of the race, battling hard with the car behind. After many laps of hard-but-clean racing, they lost the lead, ultimately finishing in the second position, but on the podium in their series debut. Co-driver Schwartz battled with the other leaders from the start in Saturday’s race before handing off to Dyszelski. From there, the talented teenager took the lead and held it for several laps before giving way to the eventual winning car being driven by a veteran driver with Rolex 24 and IMSA GTD race-winning experience. Dyszelski then held off a late challenge from the third-place competitor to take the checkered flag just 1.820 seconds behind the winner.

Starting race two, Dyszelski was able to move forward during his stint before handing the car over to Schwartz, who brought home the RySpec Racing Mercedes AMG GT4 in fourth place, just shy of earning their second podium finish in as many days backing up their result from the day prior with another top-five finish.

“It was just a great race, and I could not have done it without Johan,” explained Dyszelski. “He is the one who put me in this position. We were leading most of the race Saturday and then battling it out for second at the end. That was the most fun I’ve had wheel-to-wheel battling in a long time. You can follow and run side-by-side so well in these cars. The difference in how these cars all gain time is awe-inspiring because it makes the racing very entertaining. I would say we had quite a good top end compared to the winner; in the mid-corner sections, I was able to get a lot better, and the balance of the car never changed.”

Now, Dyszelski shifts his focus back to his USF Pro 2000 campaign with Turn 3 Motorsports as the series heads to Indiana to race at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“I’m looking forward to racing at IMS, and it’s even more special to get to race there during May,” Dyszelski said. “I’m excited to get back with the Turn 3 Motorsport crew and see what we can achieve this weekend.”

USF Pro 2000 hits the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on Thursday for two test sessions and the only practice of the weekend. Qualifying and race one occur on Friday, with races two and three scheduled for Sunday.
