“Miller scores back-to-back tenth place results in the double header”
June 26, 2024 – It was a trip to the West Coast as the INDY NXT by Firestone program, Jack William Miller, and the Miller Vinatieri Motorsports (MVM) program descended on the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Making the trek worthwhile, Miller earned his two best finishes of the season, and the first two top-ten results for the MVM program in INDY NXT.
“It was a great weekend, and this is the position that we expected to be fighting for at this time of the year,” explained Miller. “We are a rookie team with one driver, so it is not easy, but results like this make everything worth it. The next goal will be a top-five result before the season ends.”
With two short practice sessions on Friday, Miller returned to the track on Saturday morning for one qualifying session to set the grid for both wheel-to-wheel races. Qualifying in the first of two groups, the fastest lap would determine the starting positions for race one, while the second-fastest lap set the grid for race two. Qualifying tenth for race one, Miller started Saturday’s round seven from the outside of row five while his second fastest lap slotted him into P8 for the start of race two on Sunday.
Battling hard in both wheel-to-wheel races, Miller was able to finish tenth on Saturday, earning his and the team’s first top-ten result in INDY NXT. On Sunday, Miller returned to finish tenth again, matching the day’s previous result as he continued progressing up the results sheet.
Miller added, “This gives us something to build upon as we enter the second half of the season. We have two more permanent road course races and four ovals, which I am looking forward to.”
It will be a quick turnaround for Miller as this coming Friday, he will participate in an INDY NXT one-day test at Iowa Speedway in preparation for an event there in July. The next 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone calendar event will be at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on the Fourth of July weekend.
