DOUBLE PODIUM WEEKEND FOR TYLER MAXSON AT ROAD AMERICA

Traveling to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and the famed 4.048-mile Road America, Robert Noaker Racing driver Tyler Maxson left the event weekend with some hardware. Taking on the 14-turn layout, Maxson earned second and third-place finishes as he extended his Ford Mustang Challenge point lead with two event weekends remaining.

After practice sessions were in the books, it was time for qualifying to set the grids for the two wheel-to-wheel races over the weekend. With multiple pole positions to his credit this season, Maxson did not disappoint, turning the fourth-fastest time for race one, and the quickest time for race two. Provisionally on the pole position for Sunday’s race, that result would soon change after Saturday’s racing action.

Back to the track Saturday, it was another podium performance for Maxson. Battling hard at the front of the field to eventually finish third, the current championship point leader was happy with his results, knowing that he would be able to push harder tomorrow.

“It was a good race, and we are back on the podium. That is what will count in this championship,” explained Maxson. “We did not have the pace for the win today, but the podium helped increase the overall series point lead. On to tomorrow!”

With lap times resetting the grid for race two, Maxson lost his inside front row and pole position. Relegated to second on the grid, the driver of the #74 machine fell back early but managed to recover. As far back as sixth place at one point, Maxson battled hard to work his way back forward to finish on the podium for the second time this weekend, in the third position.

Maxson added, “It wasn’t a win, but it was a good points weekend for us. Being back in racing that showcases a single driver is definitely where I want to be, and I am just happy that I can show what we can do in a spec series.”

With two more events remaining in the 2024 season, Tyler Maxson is currently atop the championship point standings. Shifting his focus to the next event, Maxson and Robert Noaker Racing will head to the famed Circuit of the Americas over the August 30 – September 1 weekend.
