Best Of The Best – Featherlite Fall Jamboree Bound

For the 26th year in a row, the best of the best in outlaw dirt modified racing are preparing for the Featherlite Fall Jamboree on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29-31, when the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt invades the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.

This year’s event will feature a $3,000 top prize for the USMTS Modifieds on Thursday, followed by a $5,000-to-win feature on Friday and $12,000 to Saturday’s winner of the 30-plus-car main event that will start three-wide.

Featuring a field that rivals most feature starting fields in talent, a Non-Qualifiers Race returns again in 2024, but this time there are three of them—one each night pay $1,000, $1,200 and $1,500 to win, respectively, for the next group of racers that fail to make the feature race each night.

Once again, a flock of USRA B-Mods will be racing all three nights too, with $500 to win Thursday and $700 to win Friday, Saturday’s finale will dole out $2,000 to the main event winner.

A new addition to this year’s Featherlite Fall Jamboree, the USRA B-Mods will also have a Non-Qualifiers Race each night just like the USMTS Modifieds.

Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national and regional points are up for grabs all three nights for the USRA B-Mods while USMTS Modifieds are competing for national points and points in the Collins Brothers Towing USMTS North Region presented by Featherlite.

An open practice for all competitors is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 6-9 p.m.

More than any other racetrack, the high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval located in the rolling hills of Southern Minnesota will be hosting USMTS Modifieds for the 129th time on Thursday. The past 128 features have produced 47 different winners.

Nine-time USMTS national champ Kelly Shryock won the first-ever contest here in 2002. It was his first of 10 wins at ‘The Creek.’ Rodney Sanders and Jason Hughes have garnered a series-best 14 checkered flags here.

Sanders won the opening night feature last September before the next two nights rained out. The Featherlite Fall Jamboree-do makeup weekend in early spring was also washed out.

Lucas Schott won the most recent USMTS race here on May 25 for the 21st Annual LR Waste Services Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge.
