Already obtaining the 2024 Team and Driver’s Championship honors, Copeland Motorsports is not slowing down as they look toward the final Toyota GR Cup North America event of the season. Taking place at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway October 4-6, Copeland Motorsports has added another race-winning threat to their stable in Axel Cabrera in the #51 machine.
Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Axel was a perennial front-runner in the karting world, claiming multiple victories and podium finishes, including being a two-time Dominican national champion. Continuing that success into cars, Cabrera stood on the podium at the 2022 SCCA Runoffs, and advanced through 2023 with several SCCA race wins.
“Axel is no joke behind the wheel and will be a valuable addition to our squad,” explained Copeland Motorsports Dean Copeland. “We are back-to-back champions and want to continue our winning ways, and Axel provides us another opportunity in our strong five-driver lineup.”
Joining Gresham Wagner, Westin Workman, Jaxon Bell, and Mia Lovell, Axel Cabrera will have a talented and race-winning driver lineup around him.
“Copeland Motorsports is synonymous with winning, and I am excited to join their efforts, but also their talented group of drivers,” added Cabrera. “While my goal is to do well and gain the best results for the team, you can’t help but think about winning at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I will learn with each passing lap and see how this can transition into a 2025 race program for me.”
Set to hit the track October 4 for practice, the Indy weekend will feature the traditional two-qualifying and two-race format providing Axel Cabrera a pair of chances to showcase his talents.
