Campos Racing’s Mari Boya set the fastest time of the final post-season test in Barcelona. The Bulgarian set a 1:27.209 on the second morning of running at the Spanish venue, while Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Martinius Stenshorne led the way in the afternoon.
MORNING
It was a busy start to the final day of the season as all 30 cars made their way out of the pit lane once the lights turned green with Nikola Tsolov setting the early pace on a 1:28.313.
But he was quickly demoted to P3 as Trident rookies Rafael Câmara and Noah Stromsted went first and second, respectively. The former completed a lap of 1:27.374 to go to the top, while also putting himself 0.685s clear of his 2025 teammate.
Tsolov though regained P1 on his next flying lap, a 1:27.236 placing him ahead of Câmara by 0.136s, with fellow Campos Racing driver Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak in third over three-tenths behind.
Câmara was pushing once more and despite setting the fastest times in the second and third sectors, he stayed in second but closed to within 0.7s of Tsolov.
Things got even closer at the top when Mari Boya went to P1, a 1:27.209 eclipsing Tsolov by just 0.027s as we approached the end of the first hour.
There were no further changes to the timesheets for the next two hours of the session, although there was a brief Red Flag with 15 minutes to go after PREMA Racing’s Noel León stopped on track at Turn 13.
Running resumed with six minutes left but as the chequered flag waved on the morning’s action, Boya ended up with the fastest time ahead of Tsolov and Martinius Stenshorne.
AFTERNOON
High fuel long runs were the focus for many of the teams to start the afternoon session, although Stenshorne went fastest after completing a single push lap early on at 1:28.337 – a second and a half clear of the Hitech Pulse-Eight of Joshua Dufek.
The highest placed rookie in the afternoon was Van Amersfoort Racing’s Theophile Nael ahead of Riqui Lui, who took over for Charlie Wurz on Day 2 at Trident.
For the second consecutive afternoon running was uninterrupted and while there were no major changes to the timesheets, the drivers were busy clocking up the mileage.
The busiest of all were the PREMA Racing trio of Ugo Ugochukwu, Brando Badoer and Noel León who completed 58 laps in the afternoon session before the chequered flag was waved, bringing an end to the post-season test, the 2024 campaign and to this current generation of F3 cars.
