Bryan Hulbert – TULSA, Okla. (January 1, 2025) Rolling through Race No. 144 on Wednesday of a scheduled 389 during the 40th annual Smiley’s Racing Products Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink, several drivers are starting to stack up Heat Race wins, while some will find themselves in the soup.
A standout so far in Heat Race competition is Missouri’s Clinton Boyles. A commentator with FloRacing, in addition to being on track, Boyles is three for three so far, having won in WFO Outlaw, Hyper Non-Wing Outlaw, and EVO Fuel Injection A-Class. Likewise, 2024 EVO Fuel Injection A-Class Champion Ashton Torgerson has captured wins in the same divisions.
A total of 18 drivers have multiple Heat Races so far.
The biggest mover of the night was Kanon Posey, who went ninth to first in Race No. 62. Kale Drake, Blake Hahn, Owen Larson, and Jax Wittmer each picked up seven spots to win their Heat Races. Drivers winning from beyond the second-row number 23, with the average starting spot for a Heat Race winner, currently third.
The lineup for the week has been adjusted as curfew pushed Thursday’s starting time to 8:00 A.M. (CT) and moved the WFO Outlaw D and C-Mains to the opening events.
