Weather Delays And Work Schedules Cause Dubbin Motorsports To Withdraw From Gatornationals

With steady rain and cold temperatures impacting the Gainesville, FL area, Dubbin Motorsports was forced to withdraw from the Gatornationals. An uncertain schedule from race officials forced the Dubbin team to make the difficult decision to withdraw from the race. The decision was made after consultation with Kirk Wolf and team members who could not extend time away from work and had to return home to maintain their regular work schedule.

Dean Dubbin, Dubbin Motorsports Team Owner:  It was a tough decision after factoring in all the cost to do this, but most of us have jobs that require us to be at those jobs early Monday morning. So, we decided to pull out of the race and regroup in Charlotte.”

As It Happened:

Qualifying & Eliminations:

Q1: In the first qualifying session, an electrical problem in the timing management caused the car to run a sluggish 5.361 at 259.61 MPH, which placed Wolf in the #9 position on the ladder.

Q2: In session 2, the car pulled the tire loose at the 100-foot mark, only running 13.635 at 49.94 MPH. A clutch problem caused the car to shake early, and it could not recover to save the run. After the session, Wolf remained in the #9 slot.

Qualifying session 3 was cancelled, and rain caused the cancellation of the two elimination rounds scheduled for Saturday.

Delays on Sunday produced uncertainty in the time needed to complete eliminations. With no firm commitment from race officials on when or where the race would be completed, the team was forced to withdraw from the race.
