The Formula 2 action in Abu Dhabi is not yet over as the teams return to the Yas Marina Circuit for three days of post-season testing as they put the finishing touches on their 2024 campaigns.
Testing will feature several familiar faces while we will also see plenty of new drivers getting used to the F2 car over the course of the three days.
So, before we get going, here is all you need to know about the upcoming test.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The three days of action gives teams the chance to collect as much data as they can in preparation for the 2025 season.
For the returning drivers, it’s also a chance to work on their race craft or get to know a new team, while some of the rookies will be learning about their new car and tyres with every lap.
The test will run from December 11-13, the morning segments going from 09:00 local time (GMT+4) to 12:00 on all three days while the afternoon’s action will go from 14:00 to 17:00 but only on the first two days.
There will be a slight change in the final afternoon session on Friday with running set to move up by an hour, starting at 13:00 local time before the ending at 16:00.
Pirelli have provided the Supersoft and Medium compound tyres for the test, the same compounds used in the season finale over the race weekend. Each driver will have available to them five sets of Mediums and three sets of the Supersofts.
THE FIELD
- The 2024 line-up for post-season testing will feature 12 drivers from the 2024 FIA Formula 3 grid, including Champion Leonardo Fornaroli, who is confirmed to be driving for Invicta Racing in 2025.
- 18 of the drivers taking part in the test took part in at least one round of the 2024 F2 season.
- Eight of the drivers taking part in the test have won at least one race in Formula 2, with Richard Verschoor having the most wins on four.
- 17 different nationalities will be represented on the grid across the three days of testing.
- Joshua Duerksen will drive for AIX Racing on the first two days of testing before Argentinian driver Nicolas Varrone takes over driving duties on the final day.
