The announcement that ten-time national champion Eric Prutzman was departing Brad Sweet’s Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 team – after serving as crew chief for six-straight championship-winning seasons – was one of the biggest storylines of the off-season.
The reigning Kubota High Limit Racing champions elevated car chief Tye Wolfgang to head wrench and thrust the young Pennsylvanian into the spotlight with the responsibility to guide one of the top teams in the sport. He’s proven to handle the pressure quite well and the KKR No. 49 remains the bar that everyone is chasing on tour through the opening six races.
After three top-fives with the World of Outlaws in Florida, Wolfgang and Sweet stayed hot when the 2025 High Limit campaign begin. Finishes of third at Vegas, second at Kern, third at Perris, and fourth at Central Arizona pair with victories at Kern and Central AZ. Their six-straight top-five finishes is currently tied for the fifth-longest streak in Kubota High Limit Racing history with a chance at reaching the record Sweet set last year of nine-straight top-fives.
Putting up a 47-point gap in March, Wolfgang earned his first-career Cometic Gasket Crew Chief of the Month award – paying $500 – to go along with his first two wins with the series.
Crew Chief Tye Wolfgang is assisted on Sweet’s ride by Zane Jackson and “Red Cat” Rob Beattie.
The standings will reset for the month of April which features a quick three nights at Texas’ Route 66 Motor Speedway on April 4, Kansas’ Dodge City Raceway Park on April 5, and Arkansas’ Texarkana 67 Speedway on April 30.
